Description: This portrait of J. Louis Agassiz(1807-1873) was done in the 1920s by Abner Lowe. Agassiz was a pioneer in the field of glacial studies and the effects that they had on the Earth. His work was some of the first to suggest that there had been an ice age on Earth, and that the boulder and rock deposits had not been made by the great flood of the Bible. Object ID: USGS-575003
