Faith: We're at the US Geological Survey stream gauge at Underwood Creek. Tom: This gauge was very useful and helpful in terms of the overall stream restoration design in designing the low flow channel as well as a flood flow channel on this site. Do you want to take a look inside? Faith: Let's take a look. From this gauge house that we can take stage and flow and also collect water quality samples, this needs to be done continuously over the course of an entire year and in the morning, night, and also on weekends. So it saves us from having a technician out here all the time. Tom: From a planning perspective, these gauges are just critical for us to be able to help people understand flood flows and as well as do the modeling for flood mitigation, and as well as understanding the variability of flows on sites and throughout our cities and urban areas.
