DetailsTitle: Cold Water Survival Description: In preparation for marine work in the cold waters off Alaska professionals from academia, industry and government must, every few years, take an offshore survival class to increase their chances of survival in the event of a seafaring mishap. This short video is a brief look at the non-classroom portion of an offshore cold water survival class taught by Learn to Return Survival Systems, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska. USGS video producer Stephen M. Wessells recorded the footage while attending the class. Time Lapse video is used to compress much of the action into quicker segments that illustrate some of the strategies used for signaling and survival.
